All New 2011 Subaru Forester - 2.5X and 2.5X Premium Get New Boxer Engine
2011 Forrester models offer a slight increase in power and a significant boost in handling ability as well as a slight increase in fuel economy. Other upgrades for premium models include a six speaker audio system offering greater audio flexibility through implementation of USB and Aux inputs in addition to ipod & satellite radio capabilities. Fuel economy experiences a slight boost going from 20/26mpg ratings for Automatic (20/27mpg for Manual Transmission) to a standard 21/27mpg rating across the board with the 2011 Forester models. While the engine upgrade appears at first glance to be relatively insignificant the move from a timing belt to chain significantly decreases the overall cost of ownership as belt servicing/replacement is no longer a factor resulting in greater peace of mind both in regards to replacement and overall vehicle stability.
