Which Subaru Electric Vehicles Qualify for Canadian EV Rebates?

Canada’s new Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) makes electric driving more accessible than ever. If you’re considering a Subaru EV, understanding which models qualify for federal incentives and how much you can save is essential to making an informed purchase decision.

The federal government will launch EVAP on April 1, 2026, replacing the previous iZEV program. Under EVAP, eligible battery-electric vehicles qualify for up to $5,000 in federal incentives applied directly at the point of sale. Transactions initiated on or after February 16, 2026 may qualify, making now an ideal time to explore Subaru’s electric lineup.

Understanding EVAP Eligibility Requirements

EVAP focuses on affordability by targeting vehicles with a final transaction value of $50,000 or less. The final transaction value includes the base price, optional features, packages, accessories included at delivery, and dealer fees. It does not include extended warranties, insurance products, winter tires, Level 2 chargers, pre-delivery inspection, freight charges, financing costs, or government taxes and fees.

For Canadian-made electric vehicles, there is no transaction value cap. Vehicles must be new, highway-capable, have at least four functioning wheels, and meet Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Demonstrator vehicles with less than 10,000 kilometres on the odometer also qualify.

Battery-electric vehicles receive up to $5,000 in federal incentives for 2026. These amounts decline annually through the program’s lifespan, dropping to $4,000 in 2027, $3,000 in 2028-2029, and $2,000 in 2030. The program runs through March 31, 2031.

Subaru Electric Vehicles and Will They Qualify

2026 Subaru Uncharted

The all-new 2026 Subaru Uncharted is listed on the EVAP Vehicle List and qualifies for the full $5,000 federal incentive across three of its four available trims. The Uncharted FWD, FWD LR, and Sport trims all appear on Transport Canada’s official eligibility list.

The Uncharted FWD produces 165 horsepower from a single front-mounted electric motor, while the FWD LR increases output to 221 horsepower. The Sport trim features dual motors generating 338 horsepower and all-wheel drive capability. All three trims are equipped with a NACS charging port and support Level 3 DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes under ideal conditions.

2026 Subaru Solterra

The 2026 Solterra AWD starts at $52,495, above the $50,000 final transaction value threshold, and does not appear on the current EVAP Vehicle List. The Solterra features Symmetrical Full-Time All-Wheel Drive, 338 combined horsepower, 210 millimetres of ground clearance, and NACS charging capability.

2026 Subaru Trailseeker

The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker starts at $54,995, above the $50,000 final transaction value threshold, and is not currently listed on the EVAP Vehicle List. The Trailseeker produces 375 net system horsepower from dual electric motors, offers up to 420 kilometres of range under ideal conditions, and includes a 74.7-kWh battery with NACS charging.

How the Incentive Works

EVAP incentives are applied by the dealership at the point of sale, reducing the purchase or lease price after taxes and fees. You cannot apply for the incentive directly. The dealership must submit an Eligibility Assessment to Transport Canada on your behalf after you sign a Consumer Consent Form.

The Transport Canada portal opens on March 31, 2026, allowing dealerships to begin submitting eligibility assessments. Once approved, the eligibility confirmation is valid for 90 days. The incentive amount you receive is determined by the date the dealership submits the assessment, not the date you sign the purchase agreement or take delivery. Individual buyers can receive one EVAP incentive over the program’s five-year lifespan.

Understanding Final Transaction Value

EVAP eligibility is based on the final transaction value of your purchase, not the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. The final transaction value includes the base trim price, optional features, packages, and accessories included at delivery. Items like winter tires, extended warranties, Level 2 home chargers, and pre-delivery inspection charges are excluded from the calculation.

This means two vehicles with the same MSRP can have different final transaction values depending on configuration. Your dealership can walk you through the full breakdown for any model you’re considering.
